The Sternocleidomastoid (coloured in blue) is the muscle that decides whether it’s a Yes or a No!
As you flex your head to say Yes the SCM activates, it does the same as you slightly rotate from one side to the other to say NO.
Personally I get a sense that this charming V shape on the front of our neck goes beyond the Yes/No, it fully expresses what we are feeling: as you tilt you head to hear better what someone is saying, your face changes expression to confusion or a determination to understand, doesn’t it?
By connecting our chest (the flow of breath to and from the lungs, the feelings and emotions coming from the heart) to the head, the SCM balances earthly & heavenly aspects of Body & Spirit
Tension & Trigger Points along this muscle can cause a multitude of issues, such as headaches, eye & ear problems and even vertigo.
